About This Place

Located in the heart of Philadelphia at 8400 Torresdale Ave, Ashburner Inn stands out as a vibrant American restaurant and bar, perfectly blending classic comfort food with a lively, inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re craving a piping hot slice of pizza, a handcrafted cocktail, or a hearty entrée, this gem promises a rich dining experience that keeps locals and visitors coming back for more.

Step inside Ashburner Inn and you’ll immediately be embraced by its cozy and welcoming vibe, which guests frequently praise for making it the perfect “place to chill.” The space balances an energetic bar scene with intimate dining areas, making it equally ideal for catching the game with friends or enjoying a family meal outdoors on a sunny day.

The menu captures the essence of American favorites highlighted by their spectacular pizzas. The Pepperoni Brick Oven Pizza bursts with perfectly crisped edges, rich tomato sauce, and savory toppings, while the Argula Topped pizza with walnuts and cranberries offers a delightful twist that intrigues the palate. Pizza fanatics will also appreciate the Ashburner Pizza and the classic Margherita, both praised for their delicate crusts that hold their shape with zero flop—ensuring every bite is as delightful as the last.

But the culinary delights don’t stop at pizza. Start your meal with the Fresh Mozzarella Cheese Appetizer Sampler or the flavorful Seafood Dip, then dive into entrées such as the Mediterranean Tilapia, delicately wood oven roasted with sun-dried tomatoes, capers, and fresh herbs that create a symphony of Mediterranean flavors. The Bourbon Salmon, pan-seared and glazed with a sweet bourbon reduction, offers a succulent balance of smoky and sweet notes. For those who cherish classic Italian-American dishes, the Chicken Parmesan—lightly breaded and golden fried—is a must-try.

Signature sandwiches showcase Ashburner Inn’s dedication to hearty, satisfying meals. The Wood Burning Oven Roasted Pork sandwich is a stand-out, featuring slow-roasted pork topped with roasted red peppers, sauteed greens, and melted provolone, all nestled in a soft Kaiser roll. Meanwhile, wraps like the Tuscan Wrap and Carbonara Wrap deliver bold flavors wrapped in a lightly grilled flourish, making them perfect for a quick, flavorful bite.

Cheers to the bar offerings, where the specialty cocktails are as much of a draw as the food. From the refreshing Malibu Pineapple Martini to the indulgent Caramel Apple Martini, each drink is crafted to complement the menu and elevate your dining experience. Customer favorites like the Birthday Cake cocktail show the playful side of Ashburner’s beverage program, making it a perfect spot to celebrate any occasion.

Perhaps what truly sets Ashburner Inn apart is its warm and attentive service, a common thread in guest reviews. Whether gathering with a group of old friends, enjoying a family night out, or settling in to watch the game with excellent drink specials, patrons consistently note the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The atmosphere balances lively bar energy with cozy, comfortable seating and even outdoor dining options, meeting the varied needs of their diverse clientele.

In short, Ashburner Inn offers more than just a meal—it provides a wholehearted experience where fantastic American cuisine, expertly prepared pizzas, and a full bar converge in a space that feels both lively and comfortably familiar. Nice atmosphere, great food, excellent drink specials during games..... Update on 10/27/21: We ordered a few different pizzas on a couple of occasions and they were excellent, especially the Margherita pizza. Update #2 on 6/15/24: The pizza is as spectacular as ever. We got the Tomato pie and it's as good as I've ever had. Light, crispy, excellent tasting sauce, and ZERO flop. Easy 8.1 on the Portnoy scale.

Went here tonight for the first time with my family of 9. We sat at an outdoor table since the weather was beautiful. Our service was outstanding, the food was absolutely amazing! The chicken nachos appetizer is a must have and big enough for 5 people or more to share. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and the drinks were top notch. The kids also went crazy for the cheesesteak spring rolls. But, the icing on the cake was when the bill came, I thought that the waitress had messed up but nope, it was so affordable! We will 100% be back many many times.

Held my wedding upstairs on Halloween. It was everything I wanted and more. Debbie went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The bartenders and bussers all worked so hard to make sure everything and everybody was taken care of. The food was amazing and I am just thankful I was able to host at a places that holds so many cherished family memories.
